A transparent organization

WCE believes in taking an open and public approach to its activities and operations. By following a philosophy of organisational “transparency” we use this website and other means of communications to provide you with an ongoing flow of information about WCE's plans and activities.

Privacy Statement

No information is collected by World Computer Exchange (WCE) by the simple act of someone visiting this website.

For anyone who makes a financial or computer donation to WCE, the following information is collected and kept: name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and the amount of donations. The information on these donors is for internal records only and this information is never shared with any other organization. The exception to this is that WCE is required to provide the US Internal Revenue Service with the name of any organization in the USA that donates cash and/or equipment worth more than $5,000 in any given year.

Volunteers who take on a specific “staff” role with a title are sometimes listed by name on this WCE website – but only after their permission has been given. This question is on the original volunteer survey given to interested volunteers. This is the only case in which individual information is available to anyone outside of the organization and no phone number or specific address information is included. E-mail addresses for volunteres with a specific "staff" role may decide to include that WCE should include their home city and their e-mail address.

WCE's internal records of financial and computer donors and volunteers of are used a maximum of 4 times per year for WCE to send them a digital newsletter, once a year for WCE to invite their participation in the WCE Annual Meeting, and once a year for WCE to request a financial donation.

Any individual can contact Records@WorldComputerExchange.org  to learn what information about this individual has been kept by WCE. This is also the contact point to request any corrections. Individual donors can opt to be anonymous in the financial records of WCE - except as for the above reporting requirements to the Internal Revenue Service.

No personal information is collected via our website.

The names of individual and organizational financial Sponsors is listed in our honor roll of Sponsors. No address, phone number, or e-mail address is included with this public listing. Sponsors are given the option of also making their name anonymous to anyone other than the Internal Revenue Service. If anyone asks for information about a donor, WCE will first contact the donor to get approval - before providing any information.

WCE stores personal information on our volunteers and financial and computer donors at our headquarters on computers that are protected by a commercial firewall.

WCE does not collect any credit card information. Any donations via credit card are made via Network for Good. Their privacy policy is available at this url: http://support.networkforgood.org/?a=4&q=152
