Greatest Need - Cameroon
In March 2012, World Computer Exchange will ship a shared container from the port of Boston to the port of Douala in Cameroon. The shipper is Missionary Expediters.
This shipment of 200 computers is being prepared by the volunteers of WCE Boston. 24 groups in Cameroon have expressed interest in each receiving some of these computers. If WCE receives funds for more than 200 computers in time for this shipment, we will increase from a 20-foot to a 40-foot container that can hold 400 sets.
This container is Sponsored by The Strategic Group. This Sponsorship reduces the costs for the refurbished Pentium 4 and above computers with monitors and with software loaded to $73 each delivered to the port in Cameroon.
Sterling Thomason, a Peace Corps Volunteer has just succeeded in raising $950 for 13 computer sets and a printer for 125 young students and additional members of the general public at the rural Ntamsi Linguistic Technology & Information Center that she is assisting. 2/3 of the students are girls. She is working with Noah Wanja, Regional Inspector of English at the Delegation of Secondary Education to provide computer and English training in this Fracophone part of Cameroon.
If you are interested in donating to help any of the projects in Cameroon, please go to the "Donate" icon in the top right of this page and go to "Program Designation" and select "Cameroon Project" and then enter the name of the group you are supporting in the next box down.
Additional information will be provided here soon.
