Greatest Need: Jordan
World Computer Exchange is looking for the final $15,000 to provide 400 computers to help connect 32 schools with 21,000 Palestinian refugee students in Jordan to the Internet.
This will be the second shipment to Jordan.
The schools are located in the Beqaa, Gaza, and Hussein Palestinian refugee camps. WCE has received $10,000 from the Middle East Children's Alliance toward the costs of shipping refurbished computers to schools in the Beqaa, Gaza, or Hussein Palestinian refugee camps.The CEO of Aramex has generously pledged to ship a container from the States to Jordan.
This is our second shipment to Jordan. The first shipment was to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) (http://www.un.org/unrwa/) (http://www.UNRWA.org) installed and paid for the internet connection for the first shipment of 200 computers.
WCE Programme Officer for Jordan is Rula Qawas. WCE Regional Manager for the Middle East is Stephen Sena. WCE Board Liaison for the Middle East: Prof. Karim Jamal. They are coordinating this project for WCE.
