About World Computer Exchange Chapters
World Computer Exchange depends on chapter volunteers to help us accomplish our mission. Volunteers help:
- Raise Sponsorship funds to help WCE Partners with the last 1/3 of the sourcing and shipping costs (this includes Rotary Clubs)
- Coordinate marketing for public computer donation events, eCorps recruitment, volunteer recruitment, speakers bureau, and press releases for shipments
- Pick-up, inventory, test and pack donated used computers
- Recruit eCorps tech volunteers from local universities and community and organize Speakers Bureau and work with local universities and high schools on community service, pairings, interns
- Recruit, organize and nurture volunteers to help with Chapter & field work including for eWaste, eCorps, and capacity building
About the Montreal Chapter
Our Montreal Chapter is always looking for volunteers from the area. We are seeking testing/storage space, please let us know if you have any ideas.

News
Jack Lee has just become the new WCE Representative in Montreal. He is looking for computer testing and storage space and beginning the process of building a Steering Committee.
The Chair of the WCE Montreal Steering Committee will be Jean-Francois Raymond who is on the Board of Directors of WCE-Canada.
The Coordinator of fund raising is Matthew Parker-Jones.
Activities
- Acquiring computer donations in Montreal from individuals, schools and companies.
- Recruiting adults with good technology skills from Montreal to help WCE partners in developing countries to develop an implementation plan for the use of used computers in their local schools.
- Recruiting K-12 teachers in Montreal to act as sister 'teachers-to-teachers' support to schools in developing countries that are new to technology.
- Recruiting community service programs in Montreal high schools and universities to help with our local activities and to staff online help desks for a group of schools in a developing country that are new to technology.
- Recruiting a small team of eCorps volunteers from Montreal high schools and universities and/or professional community who are willing to visit and train local youth about technology and the Internet in exchange for learning about local history and culture.
Volunteering
We need volunteers from Montreal to help to accomplish the following five tasks:
- Pick-up, inventory, test and pack donated used computers
- Coordinate public computer donation events and related marketing
- Recruit participation of local universities and high schools
- Raise sponsorship funds to help WCE Partners with the last 1/3 of the sourcing and shipping costs
- Recruit volunteers to help WCE with our work in the field or to be a tech volunteer on one of our eCorps trips
