New Strategic Ally: Reach Out To Asia

Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) of the Qatar Foundation recently became a Strategic Ally of WCE. This will allow our two organizations to work together to equip schools with technology and connect them to the Internet in developing countries that are part of their focus.

We will begin with a pilot project in Indonesia to build the capacity of local Partners, equip 15 schools and send eCorps tech and teacher training teams along with ROTA volunteers to assist those Partners. The pilot will help find solutions for the connectivity, teacher training and content needs of these schools and will prepare us to jointly seek funds for a larger project. WCE is now recruiting online volunteers to gather and get permission for use of content in education, health and agriculture in Bahasa Indonesia, the country's official language, to pre-load into the computers.  

WCE and ROTA will explore the possibility of establishing a Doha Chapter of WCE whose volunteers would refurbish equipment from Qatar, load the WCE content package, recruit eCorps volunteers and recruit schools for exchanges.
