Benin Post Delivery Evaluation
Bénin Post Delivery Report:
Container arrived November 2001
Bénin: UNDP, SDNP, and ACDEV
The maintenance question is a big concern. I can remember that this is one of the big problem we face while preparing the WCE computers for the schools. As ACDEV cannot provide that service, it was mandatory to find somebody to take care of this. ACDEV finally find a solution through a local partnership.
The impact on the recipient is that we improve our connection to the digital word. I agree with the opinion saying that the best thing for our people now is the simputer. It is the best thing for the farmers, for the trader, for all those who are living in the rural areas, etc ... OK, but before we reach that point, those who are literate enough to use computer are very grateful for gifts like the one we receive from World Computer Exchange.

Did the shipment meet expectations (equipment in functioning order, quantity specified etc.)?
NO
Was it difficult to clear this material through customs?
The problem is not at the customer level- We did not have any difficulty to clear the equipment from the customs.
Have the units been implemented - are youth using them and are they connected to the Internet?
I would thank you for this issue. Because concerning the computers we receive here in Benin , only 50% is updatable!
On a total of 320 units only 120 is seems to be operational but need to be updated.. that have been cost a lot of money. We tried to update only 37 computers. Which are not working well. The remaining are in store..... They are not ......
Would you do it again?
YES if we have very good units .......
Any comments or recommendations?
Please we need computers for school, but computer that can be configured with Linux and bivolts (Uc and screen) (110-220 Volts)
