News

Nissan Canada is generously donating190 working Pentium 3 computers and also generously donating the delivery from Toronto to Boyds Warehouse in Ottawa.

WCE Ottawa is pleased to welcome our fourth Chapter Coordinator:  Shannon Lal.  Special thanks to his predecessor Christine Chéné for her profesionalism and hard work on behalf of WCE Ottawa. 

The shipment of 200 computers from Ottawa is about to arrive in Kabul.  See related news story under the "News" tab at the top.

WCE-Canada thanks Boyds Warehouse for their generous donation of space during the months since this equipment was packed. 

Christine Chéné is presenting a certificate of appreciation for their generous ongoing help to Debbie Birch for the Anglican Parish of St. Mary the Virgin.

Volunteering

Actively collecting donations and recruiting volunteers.  Please see volunteer descriptions here.

We need volunteers from Ottawa to help our team to accomplish the following five tasks: 

  • Pick-up, inventory, test and pack donated used computers
  • Coordinate public computer donation events, speakers bureau and press releases 
  • Recruit participation of local universities and high schools (for community service, pairings, interns and eCorps trips)
  • Raise Sponsorship funds to help WCE Partners with the last 1/3 of the sourcing and shipping costs (this includes Rotary)
  • Recruit volunteers to help with Chapter & field work or to be an eCorps tech volunteer or staff a youth Internet camp
